Watkins Rapier 44 electric guitar made in England in roughly 1964. The guitar shows signs of its age but has no major damage. It has been worked on and set up by a professional luthier. It has had a full fret level and dress, the bridge posts repaired, a fully bespoke bone nut installed and the neck has been shimmed with a solid maple shim as shown in the pictures. Early 1960s Watkins Rapier 33 electric guitar. Matching red headstock
Serial 1634 so an early production version, set neck with 3 single coil pickups
Its a little tired condition wise but a good chance for an afffordable 60s vintage guitar. Its just had a fret dress and some small attention to the nut and new strings fitted.
The lacquer is very checked all over and the tuners are obvious replacements with the top E tuners corner modified to follow the shape of the headstock. Not ... more

For sale is a Watkins Rapier guitar I don't know the exact year but It's around 1961 / 1962 as it is an early model without a truss rod.
All pickups and controls work fine, and the vibrato arm is all good.
The action is a little on the high side but that is because of the neck not having a truss rod though is still playable.
Otherwise its all pretty clean.

A super rare, iconic British piece of music history - an English-made Watkins Rapier Bass, dating from 1965

Dating to 1965 owing to the 4 digit serial and its concurrence with the ?65 serial run - this also definitely makes it a ?Watkins?? - pre-WEM / Wilson. For this reason, some of these earlier models (including this one) did not feature the usually-seen branded top right horn ?guard??, I believe. Hard-to-find vintage Watkins Rapier electric guitar, marked "Horizon B" on the headstock
This is a rare British guitar with cool vintage character.
It appears to have been repainted at some point, and there is a visible body seam / split down the middle from a past repair
There is also a split at the end of the headstock, and the tuners are very rusty and will likely need replacement or restoration
