Vintage Silvertone K4-L completely refurbished and tricked out. We started off with a Custom candy apple green over silver metallic base coat with an ocean of clear. Then added medium jumbo frets and green Lumilay side dots. We found a volume and tone knob from another guitar and added those for a whopping four knobs to make it look ultra radical. I got this one from the original owner who used it for a year or two than put it away until last month. Its really about as clean as it could be. All three pickups work well, all controls work well. Silvertone 1375 (early U1 series) made by Danelectro of Neptune New Jersey in either 1954 or 1955. The pots date to 1954. It's a solid body guitar with an aluminum bar that runs from the neck through body. It has a red tolex covering on the body and a white Lightning Bolt Silvertone logo on the headstock. Is what it is. We used to see these all the time in the pawn shops back in the late 80's early 90's and as guitar players we loved the fact that you could get them cheap. This one has the original 15" speaker which man has to be pushing 60 years old. the head comes out and must have a speaker cable (I think this is a mod from the original). All i know is that if you want a Nirvana sound this is it. If you want loud tube crunch this can't be beat.... more

I was told this was a 1959. Not real knowledgeable about These old guitars but the research I found I believe Silvertone only out there name on these in 59. There is a number stamped in the body under the pick guard that has a 65 in so that??s about all I know. I found this little gem in a charity shop ages ago and have enjoyed it since. It plays really nicely and holds tuning well. Since buying it, I've removed the neck and added washers beneath the screws and adjusted the bridge position (shifted it backwards a tiny bit) to improve the intonation. All electrics are fully functional and the pick ups have the lovely sound that comes with these old catalogue guitars. The whammy bar is particularly cute.... more

A very cool find, 1960s Silvertone badged Kay Vanguard II which has been modded and refretted. Plays great, rich resonant tone and sustain and stays in tune too When I got this it was pretty sad, frets filed flat slipping / missing tuners and a tremolo that knocked the strings out of tune when you even looked at it. And the nitro finish flaking and peeling off the neck every time you touched it
