Thin 3-ply guard. There is a chip at one end and there's a crack at one screw hole. There's some warping, scratches and wear. That gray stuff on the back won't come off. This gray discoloration is typical of most Epi guards of this era.

Here is a fantastic bass with a hard to find case. It has been modified and is not original. The pickup is from a vintage 1968 Gibson bass. It has new pots and the kill switch has been removed. This is my son??s bass. We bought it new for him and he used it for a couple of years and has now bought a long scale bass which he plays all the time, so no need to keep this
It??s based on the original Epiphone Coronet guitar and Newport bass from 1961. They updated the headstock and pickups so it has a bit more of a modern sound
