Vintage guitars for sale: 1965

Mid-60s Kay Swingmaster hollowbody with original Barney Kessel Kleenex box pups. Restored from some neglect, but nothing fatal. Body (and finish), neck, tailpiece, harness, and pickups are original. Pups were both rewound to vintage specs, and sound awesome. Neck and frets are good, and truss rod works. Fretboard is almost completely flat along the treble side, but there is a slight rise along the bass side above the neck joint (remember, it's a Kay). Nothing that makes any bad fretting, though.... more

This 1965 Gibson L-48 represents the entry level Gibson acoustic archtop. Despite this, these guitars can have a really nice sound, and this one certainly does. With a mahogany top, the sound is certainly different than the usual spruce top guitars. Its not quite as bold and punchy as spruce with less mid focus. It's a nice variation for someone looking for something a little different than the common spruce top archtop

This listing is for one (1) 1965 Fender Strat 250K "craterback" or "dishback" style CTS pot occasionally found in the late Leo Fender era and early CBS era.
Has the Fender part code and a 28th week of 1865 manufacturing date. This was in the neck tone position, and the solder spot for the cap was on the side, over the 250K value. I cleaned that off so the code could be seen. You can now use it in any spot you choose, but it will take years for that spot to oxidize and blend in.

Neck I got in a trade that I don??t have a use for at the moment. Seems to have been refinished at some point. There is a bit of a lip where the finish reaches the fingerboard and they taped it off, could use some sanding.

This unit has been completely restored and cleaned from top to bottom. Has brand new tubes, capacitors, Knobs, and Jewel. Also has a custom made back wood back because the original one was missing.

From the serial number it appears to be either a 1964 or 1965 Jazz Split Sound. It has a few dings as can be seen in the photos but the neck and fretboard are in great condition and electronics are working. It has a missing tremolo arm and pickup control knob.
It doesn??t come with a case and I have no means of packaging and shipping it so it is collection only. We are based in Warwickshire, 3 miles from J12 M40.

Bass shows typical wear for a 60 year old instrument. Some checking in finish (see photos) minor nicks and a couple of paint chips in the lower horn. The neck is beautiful and action is low. Ashtray and pickup covers included. Stackpole pots are dated correctly and appear original. Pickup is original. Neck is stamped as Nov 5th 1965.
