This is a cool vintage 1969 Hofner 490 12-string guitar w / a Spruce top, curly maple back and sides. Rosewood fingerboard, jumbo round-shoulder neck. It has a large, round-shouldered body and a long 64 5 cm scale. It is very deep, considerably wider at the sides than other models. This was the last year these jumbo-sized bodies were built. For 60 years of age it is in remarkable condition. There are some scratches, in fact quite a few all around the body. Cosmetic and with the nicely darkened laquer they give the instrnent this wonderfull patina. Around the side srew of the pick guard is a little touched up area and on the backside bottom edge where the ornamentel inlay ends is a tiny patch of dopped out laquer. So I bought this a few years back . Mostly as a stage prop for a show . I??ve loved having it sitting around the house and it??s got an incredibly low action. I am a player so I can tell you this Guitar is very playable. Currently set up with 10s and they are a bit too lite for it. Would benefit from 11 or 12s to bring more volume and tone out of it, and also raise the action up a bit which is super low at the minute . A genuine 1960s acoustic guitar in excellent condition for its age, and still very playable with a nice action and good frets
Many guitarists started their journey with these guitars including the great Hank Marvin. They were decent quality and a lot cheaper than a Gibson, Fender etc. This is a real survivor, plenty of patina but no cracks or major marks

Up for sale is my beloved 1959 Hofner Senator. It's a gorgeous archtop guitar with wonderful tone and resonance. In the 50s, Hofner, Gretsch and Gibson reigned supreme in the Archtop / Jazz guitar space
The Senator is the slightly larger-bodied version of the parlour Jazz guitar, the Congress
The guitar is in fantastic condition for one of this age, and plays like a dream. The only damage is to the name badge, which is partly missing (see pictures)

For sale this very rare 1957 500 / 5 , with the oval tone plate . Both rosewood pickups have been rewound and it has a refret from an excellent luthier. Original pots which are date stamped . It is in very good condition for its considerable age and has its original winter case
I am aware of only one more in the UK so a true collectors piece .

For sale is my heavily modded Hofner Congress. The previous owner did a fair bit of work to it including installing the mini-Humbucker pickup, the volume and tone knobs, tailpiece and upgrading the tuning knobs.

It??s a lovely guitar and has nice low action. I??ve always wanted an Archtop like this but it just doesn??t suit my playing style.

Does not come with the strap.

This was the 40th Hofner Committee to be imported into the UK (serial number 2040) the body is pencil dated 20 10 1953. It has been confirmed as being either a late 1953 or early 1954 import.
Sadly this was part of my dad??s proud collection but unfortunately I??m a left halthough a tough decision, it would be a shame for me to keep it, especially as it is a very playable guitar with great action and tone. Made in Germany in the late 50??s / early 60??s
All original and in amazing condition. Please take into account, it is a very old instrument, so it has a some blemishes and signs of use and age, like lines on the lacquer at the wood joints
A previous owner installed green fretboard side markers, and sanded around them a bit (check the pictures).

It's a well-loved guitar but needs some attention, hence the low price, compared to others on here It's been modified for a lefty but wouldn't take much (new nut) to change it back The neck has been reset and re fretted (by a professional luthier) and it plays ok (great sound!) but could do with setting up and new strings There's plenty of signs of wear, scratches, dings and cracked varnish... more

For sale is a beautiful Hofner acoustic dreadnought guitar
Made in Western Germany. The serial number 208436 dates it, I believe, to 1979
Please see photos for condition - it's certainly had a life! There are 2 holes that go clean the way through on the back
There is a slight gap in the bridge but it doesn't affect the action at all
I've just put new strings on it and it sounds great!
