For sale this very rare 1957 500 / 5 , with the oval tone plate . Both rosewood pickups have been rewound and it has a refret from an excellent luthier. Original pots which are date stamped . It is in very good condition for its considerable age and has its original winter case

This was the 40th Hofner Committee to be imported into the UK (serial number 2040) the body is pencil dated 20 10 1953. It has been confirmed as being either a late 1953 or early 1954 import.
Sadly this was part of my dad??s proud collection but unfortunately I??m a left halthough a tough decision, it would be a shame for me to keep it, especially as it is a very playable guitar with great action and tone. For 60 years of age it is in remarkable condition. There are some scratches, in fact quite a few all around the body. Cosmetic and with the nicely darkened laquer they give the instrnent this wonderfull patina. Around the side srew of the pick guard is a little touched up area and on the backside bottom edge where the ornamentel inlay ends is a tiny patch of dopped out laquer. 1960 Hofner President. Not bad condition for a 66 year old guitar, a few small battle scars here and there. It had a floating Hofner pick up added pretty soon after it was first bought. I've just taken it off as the cable came apart on the make shift connection under the scratch guard, which I presume has lasted all that time. I've had it 37 years but don't really have the time to look after the old girl. Needs someone to give her a bit of TLC.

So I bought this a few years back . Mostly as a stage prop for a show . I??ve loved having it sitting around the house and it??s got an incredibly low action. I am a player so I can tell you this Guitar is very playable. Currently set up with 10s and they are a bit too lite for it. Would benefit from 11 or 12s to bring more volume and tone out of it, and also raise the action up a bit which is super low at the minute . Up for sale is my beloved 1959 Hofner Senator. It's a gorgeous archtop guitar with wonderful tone and resonance. In the 50s, Hofner, Gretsch and Gibson reigned supreme in the Archtop / Jazz guitar space
The Senator is the slightly larger-bodied version of the parlour Jazz guitar, the Congress

Many guitarists started their journey with these guitars including the great Hank Marvin. They were decent quality and a lot cheaper than a Gibson, Fender etc. This is a real survivor, plenty of patina but no cracks or major marks

Please see photos for condition - it's certainly had a life! There are 2 holes that go clean the way through on the back
There is a slight gap in the bridge but it doesn't affect the action at all
