In April 1961, The Beatles started a four-month residency at the Top Ten Club in the Reeperbahn, Hamburg??s red light district. The line-up was Paul McCartney on piano and guitar, Stuart Sutcliffe on bass, John Lennon and George Harrison on guitar and Pete Best on drums. This is a used Höfner electric bass guitar with a solid body in pink color. It has four strings and is designed for right-handed players. The set includes a cable, strap, and hard case. The bass guitar was made in Germany

A very rare and very early original 1961 Hofner 500 / 1 violin "Cavern" bass. An original beatle bass though this of course is right handed. Lovely to hold and so light. A real treasure.
Complete with all original Hofner parts and electronics all native to this bass. Comes with it's original 1961 Jakob Winter black case with green lining. The exact same case Paul had in Hamburg and in Liverpool until replaced by a Selmer tweed one in 1963. All clips and lock work fine and handle is good too.... more

This Hofner violin bass is all original in excellent condition. There are imperfections to the finish which is typical with age. There has been a neck re-set. The guitar is fully operational and been professionally set-up. There isn't a case with the guitar. The age has been verified from the rear of the control plate. This guitar is an excellent example of an original 1960's icon.... more
