I am not sure what model it is but it was sold to me as an 800, I believe that is the case. It is definitely a higher end one as it has a 2 piece back and flame maple veneer. This is a second year of production JV Strat, built for export (hence the Squire branding). These early ones were branded Fender for Japan sale and Squire for UK?US sale. They were otherwise the same. It was only later (in the 90s) that the cheaper guitars were branded Squire
It is a great sounding and playing Strat and these early JVs are very collectible and tend to have been messed-with

I am thinning out my guitar collection, which includes 6 Fenders from around 1983 which were a particular love for me. The main reason I love the 1983's are the necks which have a lovely V shape and a nice flat 9 5" radius. The second reason I love these is that this was the very rare period where they were top loading Stratocasters and Telecasters so gorgeous flat backs - more wood=more tone right?

A lovely vintage thumper. Part of the Contemporary line of guitars and basses introduced by Fender Japan in 1983, this PJ-555 is about the most red bass guitar we've ever seen. In many ways the PJ-555 was the pre-curser to the Fender Jazz Bass Special introduced a year or so later, albeit with a Squier decal instead of a Fender one. Cool Matsumoku built 1983 Inazuma V from my collection. Alder body (weighs 3 6kg), Maple neck (650mm 25 5" scale), Bone nut, Standard Synchronised Tremolo , coil tap switch, Cool Protomatic V powerful humbuckers, all chrome hardware. The Blue / Black Burst finish is quite stunning and it turns heads alright. All original. Quite a few minor marks and light scratching, sticker marks but no serious damage.
