Unbelievable find!! Everything works perfectly (including projector), has original tubes and covers. There are a few extras, like the projector arms, take-up reel, spare bulbs and springs (see pics). I've cleaned up the covers, which have light discoloration from age, but it's super clean on the inside and functions perfectly as a guitar amp (see video). Two smaller chips on the top right there by the sides as I tried to take pictures of, small pings and dings from play wear over the years but over all this is a true beauty! This guitar is in rough shape and needs some serious tlc. The strings are rusted and broken, the original celluloid binding is cracked or missing, the tuners are and tailpiece are rusty, and I see a couple cracks on the top. That being said, everything is original as far as I can tell. The tailpiece is the original harp style trapeze with Gretsch written on it, and the bridge appears to be the original rosewood. This guitar was found in the basement of a closed down music store in rough condition. The celluloid pick guard had melted and dripped onto and bubbled the finish, the celluloid binding was badly cracked and falling off, the original nut was missing, and the neck had a crack near the headstock. A lot of work went into repairing and restoring it to its current, very playable state. For sale or best offer is a vintage 1953 Fender 5C3 Tweed Deluxe with a wide panel front. From the first year of production, this amplifier has date codes as early as the 8th week of '53, with a final 'CG' date stamp indicating July as its month of release. These early 5C3's also feature octal preamp tubes (2x 6SC7), which were eventually phased out for noval sockets to fit 12AX tubes

This was the 40th Hofner Committee to be imported into the UK (serial number 2040) the body is pencil dated 20 10 1953. It has been confirmed as being either a late 1953 or early 1954 import.
Sadly this was part of my dad??s proud collection but unfortunately I??m a left halthough a tough decision, it would be a shame for me to keep it, especially as it is a very playable guitar with great action and tone.
