This is an original late 50s Kay Special Jazz bass in excellent condition! It has a medium scale 32 inch jazz style neck that plays fantastic. This is a late '60's - early '70's Kay "EB-100" Bass, produced by Teisco Japan. Short scale (30 5" scaIe). This and a couple other models were nicknamed "Tulip Basses, due to the shape of the body. It is in real nice shape for being close to 60 years old! Original black paint; I was going to paint it a more "tulip-ish" color, but the black with the black 3-ply pickguard just looks so cool that I decided not to go through with that idea. This is a very nice KAY KB-15B "Star-Ter Series" Short Scale 30" bass that is in very decent shape. Paint is original with minor dings, etc, but I have not touched it up whatsoever. I figured I'd leave it as-is. Easily touched up with black nail polish or black marker
Here are the upgrades / mods done: I removed the original 2-saddle bridge that is difficult to intonate, and installed a Squier bridge in its place. The 4 individual saddles allow for much better intonation and height ... more

Kay KB-24 sunburst bass body. It's a PB style bass body. Year unknown. Fair few dings and scratches all shown. Will include the neck plate and ashtray bridge cover. There are additional screw holes where a modern PB style scratch plate was attached. These are covered by the original or vice versa
Scratchplate included with pickups. It's not currently soldered into the ground wire or attached though. There's a broken screw in where the pickups go that you can work around. Electrics all work ... more

Old Kay bass does seem to work ok and as you can see it??s pretty beat up so you might want to give it some tlc , please have a good look at the many photos as the condition and if your happy buy it and i will even post it to your home address, but I will not post to Argos or the like as they often refuse large parcels.
