This is a Vintage 1981 Tokai Silver Star in almost mint condition for its age. It's an exact copy of a 1976 Fender Stratocaster, made famous by The Edge, Sting, with a black-on-black look of David' Gilmour's famous Strat
The guitar is completely original - pickups, tuners, pots, tremolo system. The only two changes are vintage brass saddles to give that exact The Edge sound, sustain and look. The tone capacitor has also been changed to a vintage oil-in-paper

Talk about a guitar that was ahead of it's time! The Tokai MAT series featured a composite body and neck that gave the density of wood for excellent tone and sustain but increased durability. The neck on this guitar will never warp or twist and these guitars are far less sensitive to temperature and humidity changes than a wood guitar.

Here is a cool vintage 1981 Japanese Tokai LS-60 Love Rock Les Paul. Vintage Tokais (??78-??85) are our absolute favourite Japanese lawsuit style Japanese single-cuts here at GSG. This one is a real beauty with a rare tobacco burst finish (they are often bright tomato clownbursts ) There is even little birdseye in the top. For sale is a somewhat unusual Tokai. It is indeed a 1981 Goldstar Sound. This is unusual as the earliest Goldstar Sound guitars were believed to appear in 1983, possibly late 1982. Here is a really nice vintage 1984 Japanese Tokai LS-50 Love Rock Les Paul Goldtop. Vintage Tokai (??78-??85) are our absolute favourite lawsuit style Japanese single-cuts. This one is a beaut, with a really nice goldtop (a lot harder to find than the usual clownbursts you see from this period). It??s in fine vintage condition with no mods, breaks, repairs etc. Lovely resonant old wood. Straight neck with a thinner 60's profile carve, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets. Selling my 1980s Tokai Breezy Sound ?? a beautiful vintage guitar that deserves to be played! I??m not entirely sure what colour this is, but I think it would probably class as a tobacco burst. It is absolutely stunning in person.
I bought it from RichTone Music in Sheffield about a year ago year ago, but it??s barely been touched since. It??s in excellent condition, with only minimal signs of age.

This particular example dates to 1985 based off its neck plate serial number which takes the same formatting as L-series Stratocasters (cool detail!). Not quite able to find a catalogue reference for these 'limited edition' models, but this example appears to otherwise present as a TST-50. If it was built in Japan in the late '70s / early '80s, it's a high likelihood it will be good. This particular example is no exception. Coming from the Breezy Sound range, this model is the TE-70 '64 reissue spec finished in black.
