This is another very rare early production Ibanez solid body Bass from 1962-4??their 5th year in business. Its Dark Brown??burst is quite attractive over a solid mahogany body. Its Rosewood neck has pearl dot inlays & its Fender type headstock was bold at that time & has a groovy script Ibanez raised logo on it. Its Black pickgard is so deco w / its long wood thumb rest. I am selling a 1962 Ibanez 1901 4 string short scale electric bass guitar. This has a real baseball bat neck! Super thick neck!
Except for the disintegrated pickguard needing replaced as well as the control pots and jack, this bass guitar is in a very good condition, cosmetic wise.
Selling as a repair project because of the pickguard repair needed, plus setup work at the least and possible neck straightening at the most. I've got a case for it (somewhere).

Made in Japan at the FujiGen Gakki Factory in Nagano and based on serial number it was manufactured in July 1985
The bass is in player worn shape, with scratches and dings as shown. Also it is missing a screw on truss rod plate, truss rod is tight and plate is not loose without the screw. Bass has shoulder strap and to me it looks good and is ready to be played

Early 1960s Ibanez bass guitar. Bought from an estate sale. Brought it to two different vintage guitar shops and was told that it was authentic. One told me that it was a 1961 and another told me it was a 1962. Normal aging and wear from a guitar this old. When plugged in, both pick ups work. Made in Japan at the FujiGen factor, this is a Rare color for this model, only made in 1977 before these were discontinued the same year due to changes made over legal issues with Fender. The original pickups were replaced with vintage EMG active pickups. The top was nicely adapted with wood and a flame maple veneer, and painted transparent red.
The neck was sanded at some point, so now it has been nicely re-finished with nitrocellulose lacquer, looks glossy and feels smooth.
