Here we have a really sweet 57 Gibson L48 archtop guitar. It is a one owner guitar that was brought in by the son of the original owner who has passed away. The guitar is in very good playing condition showing normal signs of wear for a guitar of this vintage. This is a 1957 Hofner Congress. This is a stunning looking, vintage guitar. The guitar has the serial number 4853 which dates is to 1957 (Serial number range 4718 - 5808)
The guitar is a fully hollow archtop that has been retrofitted with pickups. I believe these were a factory add on option. The pickups currently do not work properly, this is probably down to a simple wiring issue but I don't have the patience for re-writing hollow body guitars myself

1957 Hofner Senator "brunette" archtop electric guitar in good condition with period hard case. Early model with the rosewood bodied pickup and circular control panel. These pre-date the truss rod so the neck is pretty chunky and not ideal for speedy jazz players or shredders. .
The sunburst finish is in good condition with some weather checking but still shines up well and there's quite nice flame on the back. There is the common crack in the neck joint by the heel but it is solid. Three of ... more

1957 Hofner Senator in original 50s carry case
Beautiful playing, looking and sounding guitar from the era of lightweight, handcrafted guitars
This is resonant, light, has a lot of projection and a superb action
The downside are a few dings over the last 70 years and a previous owner replaced the tuners for some reason

Rare in this colour. Iv had the tobacco sunburst, and there is a black. The over all condition is very good, and it is fully functional. It has the odd ding, ware too the frets, a couple of small paint chips and the usual neck pocket finish paint blemish, which is totally superficial. The action is low and the frets have plenty of life left in them. These were made in Korea, and they were going to be prosecuted by Fender for an infringement of their product.
