Original Selmer case for Hofner Guitar, Mid-Late 50's. Not sure which model Hofner guitar, but the measurements are 43" long, 17" across and 4 1 / 2" deep. Case has Tolex wear on rear bout, both top and bottom, and a few spots elsewhere, but overall for it's age not too bad. All latches work, original handle. There were a few areas where the wood seam was separating, I was able to repair them with Wood glue and clamps, problem solved. No more separation in the seams.... more

This pickup has been checked with a multimeter for DC resistance. The DC resistance figure can be seen in the photos as well as the overall condition of the pickup. There are no mounting screws or springs included, only the pickup as seen. I also attached the leads to the end of an instrument cable and tapped with a metallic object and the sound came through the amplifier.

This bass guitar has been tested and all electronics works as they are designed. There are some scratches on the body however nothing that is deep more just from playing. The pick guards is missing which is why there is a hole on the side as shown in the photos of the listing. The case has many broken latches which is why it is held closed with a rubber band

Surprisingly clean example of a '60s (or '70s?) Japanese viola bass. The action gets high as you go up the fretboard despite the saddles being bottomed out. Neck looks straight. I gave the truss a little turn in each direction but was wary of going too far. Not sure whether it needs a neck reset, shim, or to just have the bridge filed down. Frets are excellent. This is a nice Hofner copy of the Beatle Bass Paul used. We believe it to be a Univox or Teisco 1960's. Electronics all work however the tone just has a little static noise when you turn it volume works great and so does the tone other than that drop of static while turning (probably a very good electronics cleaning is in order). Really good shape for it's age with minor wear electronics have been gone through and it's been setup. 30" scale length. One of the earliest basses to have a preamp and the sounds are very usable. 1957 Hofner Senator "brunette" archtop electric guitar in good condition with period hard case. Early model with the rosewood bodied pickup and circular control panel. These pre-date the truss rod so the neck is pretty chunky and not ideal for speedy jazz players or shredders. .

One of the tone pots has been swapped out for a 3 way pick-up selector which would normally be on the lower cut-away. This is a 1957 Hofner Congress. This is a stunning looking, vintage guitar. The guitar has the serial number 4853 which dates is to 1957 (Serial number range 4718 - 5808)
The guitar is a fully hollow archtop that has been retrofitted with pickups. I believe these were a factory add on option. The pickups currently do not work properly, this is probably down to a simple wiring issue but I don't have the patience for re-writing hollow body guitars myself

1960's HOFNER Colorama mod. 161 Redburst, Germany
This rare Hofner guitar was made in Germany in the 1960s. There is no marking on the guitar, but I assume it is a model No. 161. Guitar is very light in weight ( 2 22kg or 4 15lb ) and body is hollow inside
Considering the age, I estimate the external condition as very good. There are some scratches and small dents, but nothing major. Please take a look on the posted pictures where these marks are clearly visible on.

This guitar plays beautifully, with a great action
Original parts include a "Lyre" tailpiece, "Staple" Type 511 pickups and a very rare Micromatic bridge
The guitar has been fitted with a 3 way slide switch for pickup selection and an extra hole, in the middle of the four standard controls, has been fitted with a pot and knob that isn't wired to anything

I love these bass??s, not only for the fab 4 connection but they sound so strong, easy to play and weigh hardly anything, great for the jobbing bass player on the hoof. Hofner Verithin made in Germany in the 60??s
It is completely original, and in great condition.
The only aesthetic details to mention are: a couple of blemishes here and there. One small hole apparently made intentionally in the back of the headstock, and two holes made in the pickguard for whatever reason. It would be like new if it wasn??t for these details.
All the electronics and parts work as they should, the action is medium low, and the neck is straight
