I've owned this stunning Höfner Senator semi-acoustic bass guitar for 40 years and it's now time to pass it on It features a 30 inch rosewood fretboard, tone and volume controls and a single pick-up

This guitar shows the serial number 954 which suggests the date of manufacture as 19963 / 64   It has been professionally restored so that it plays and sounds great   Nothing was spared, new pots  pickup rewound  neck straightened  and action reset, it had the metal bridge when I got it and the restorer suggested I keep it as it gave better intonation

A seriously gorgeous piece of musical history, just awesome At some point there's bound to be a need for repair on an old (vintage) guitar I had a professional reset the neck and set up the action, so it now plays beautifully

This is a 1967 model with serial number 397
I have owned this beauty since the late 1980s. Unfortunately, I have not played it for several years and its time for it to go to someone that will appreciate it and play it
Overall it is in very good condition throughout. It is 57 years old so has some minor marks and blemishes. No significant dings or damage. The lacquer is in very good condition though when I photographed it I noticed a couple of hairline cracks on the lower ... more

Up for sale is a stunning 50s Hofner Senator Archtop Guitar fitted with an original Hofner floating pickup
The guitar dates between 56-58 so is quite an early one
Setup with flatwound strings - the action is good with at around 3 5mm at the 12th fret - straight neck , common with these necks it kicks up slightly as it meets the body but doubt if many people play down there .

It's a well-loved guitar but needs some attention, hence the low price, compared to others on here It's been modified for a lefty but wouldn't take much (new nut) to change it back The neck has been reset and re fretted (by a professional luthier) and it plays ok (great sound!) but could do with setting up and new strings There's plenty of signs of wear, scratches, dings and cracked varnish... more

Hofner Senator Brunette, made in Germany in 1963.
Repaired as the headstock broke off. I used glue, screws, and wood for support. In my experience, it won??t break again.
The repair was painted over, it looks and feels pretty good.
Apart from that, all the accessories were replaced, so it lost most of its collectible value, but it is still a very good looking German 60??s archtop guitar that sounds and plays amazing.

This guitar has, after some considerable work, cleaned up really nicely and has a good warm and clear sound

The body is in really good condition the wood colour is really warm and consistent. Pic 2 doesn??t reflect this as light was bad!)

One tuner different to the others but all seem to hold tuning really well

I don??t think the pickup is as old as the guitar but it, sounds like (and right for) the instrument rather than detracting from its character
