Vintage guitars for sale: Framus

I found this guitar at a thrift store and purchased it for my daughter. She never played it so I??m selling it. I know absolutely nothing about guitars. It does play. I have tried to capture through the photos. The issues that I see. One of the biggest ones is obviously where the neck sits just above the opening, you can tell it??s been cracked. I don??t know if this can be repaired or what. As detailed on the photos, there is a metal plate on the back indicating that it was made in West ... view on ebay

What makes this guitar special:
This is a great vintage Framus with excellent tone and a unique build. The most immediately noticeable aspect is that it has an arched maple back which provides an extra bit of tonal body and just as much added volume over a standard flat-backed dreadnought design.
The tone itself starts with a nicely compressed low end that extends into a rich and lively mid-range, and up into a top end that??s full of chime. The cuts of maple used for the back and sides ... view on ebay

I don??t know much about this guitar but from what I can tell it??s pretty rare especially with the 5 tone switches. The swell knob works as well as the other tone controls. This guitar is a fine player, but I confess it, it is a bit of a mystery
1. Guitar is branded CMC (or Clark Music Centers) and the only reference to Framus is the "Made in Germany" on the neck plate
2. "Made in Germany" instead of West Germany suggests 1960's
3. The guitar is smaller than a standard classical. Likely 3 / 4 sized, suggesting a student model, supported by the arched back to give this smaller instrument some volume. Quality of the finish suggests better grade than a Job... view on ebay

Framus semi-acoustic bass guitar. This bass has been mine for a good many years; it has been loaned to a couple of friends, and now needs a bit of restorative work. The bridge is missing, as is the volume pot knob, but the electrics seem to work ok (albeit with a few crackles). It may well benefit from new strings It looks like it is a Star Bass, made in Bavaria, maybe late 50s / early 60s, and very similar to one played by Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones) It may be of interest to a collector. ... view on ebay
