A lot of this is speculation. Hymie Lawson (writing on back of neck) was a prominent local musician who passed away in 2002. I have a copy of his obituary. This is a really nice P bass, ‘74 was the first year that they produced them with a black pick guard and the thumb rest on the bass string side. The bass is in really nice condition with no noticeable chips or dings on the neck which is fast and has a lovely feel with no lifting on the skunk stripe.
