Here is a cool vintage 1965 Vox AC50 tube amplifier head! This one is in very good condition overall and good functioning order. It is serial number 05359, made in England by JMI. This served me very, very well back in the day. I was busking in Boston with a Panasonic Ghetto Blaster cassette deck loaded up with the bass and drum box tracks, and a Roland SH-101 Synthesizer, and a headset mic running into this baby. I didn??t make a lot of money (truth be told I prob spent more on batteries than I made!) but man, that kind of performing sure cures stage fright!

The Escort was introduced in 1974 as a 3 4 Watt busking amplifier powered by battery only, but was so successful that this mains / battery version was launched shortly afterwards. Longest lived amp in the Vox line aside from the AC30, and the guy who owned it from new remembers using it for busking in the Tube in the 70s

I think that this is a 1969 Vox AC30 - I purchased it in Dublin 1978-1982. It had previously been owned by a session musician. It has silicon diodes soldered across the back of the rectifier socket and has the T1088 'Bulldog' speakers - these are described in 'voxac30 org uk' as:

- The tolex is a Grey / Blue colour. As Vox moved from Fawn (late 1963) to the Black woven tolex (summer 1964) they used plain black or plain grey / blue tolex. These are now very rare. For sale: 1964 Vox AC30 combo. This is the grey panelled T version (treble not Top-boost) with the six controls instead of eight. I purchased this from ?the Vox man?? in Norwich in the early 1990s and have used it in all the bands I have played in since then. As the pictures show, it has been used and giggled a lot, but this also means it has been looked after to play and sound as good as it can, in complete working order. It has also been serviced regularly, most recently of August this year.... more
