This is a Gibson BR-9 lap steel guitar from the 1950??s.

It has been modified. At some point over the last 75 years someone removed the original cover and replaced the pickup with a P-90 and fabricated a wood pick guard.

It sounds great and it plays well and stays in tune.

It is great as it is or for someone who wants to restore it.

Vintage 1950s Harmony Roy Smeck lap steel guitar body / neck. Typical vintage wear but looks pretty good for being sixty to seventy years old. Pictured above is a vintage ELECTROMUSE Electric 6-string Lap Guitar. Others list theirs as from the 1940's but I believe it is more likely from the 1950's. From the research I have done this is a vintage 1938 EH-150 Gibson Lap Steel Serial Number DGE 5484. The instrument itself is in very good condition except for some scratches on the lower back. Very cool Gibson Ultratone lap steel from 1951 / 1952, one of the earliest version 2 models with transitional features such as the red-buttoned tuners found on the V1 model and the Lyre motif on the plastic bridge cover before it changed to a vine. On top of that, it's a rare 7 string model
