Subway Guitars in Berkeley CA has recently acquired a rarity from the 1980's
The RB720 is a Roadstar II Bass series solid body electric bass model made by Ibanez in 1983. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen

I don't know what this bass is. It has a really old Ibanez logo and is heavy. It ha a badass bridge installed and EMG Select Pickup. The tuners look like Fender. Could this be what is known as a lawsuit bass' IDK . It plays / works fine. Kinda clunky in my opinion. The neck is fat like the old fenders.... more

This is another very rare early production Ibanez solid body Bass from 1962-4??their 5th year in business. Its Dark Brown??burst is quite attractive over a solid mahogany body. Its Rosewood neck has pearl dot inlays & its Fender type headstock was bold at that time & has a groovy script Ibanez raised logo on it. Its Black pickgard is so deco w / its long wood thumb rest. From out of a long closed (17 years) Western ma. Luthier / vintage guitar store. Today I have 4 gun metal gray 2x2 vintage bass guitar tuners. Unfortunately one of these has had the threaded part broken, It still has one working thread and might work on a bass with a headstock with a 1 / 2 thick headstock. I am selling a 1962 Ibanez 1901 4 string short scale electric bass guitar. This has a real baseball bat neck! Super thick neck!
Except for the disintegrated pickguard needing replaced as well as the control pots and jack, this bass guitar is in a very good condition, cosmetic wise.
Selling as a repair project because of the pickguard repair needed, plus setup work at the least and possible neck straightening at the most. I've got a case for it (somewhere).

Vintage 1985 Ibanez Musician MC824-BK Glossy Black Bass Guitar
Made in Japan at the FujiGen Gakki Factory in Nagano and based on serial number it was manufactured in July 1985
The bass is in player worn shape, with scratches and dings as shown. Also it is missing a screw on truss rod plate, truss rod is tight and plate is not loose without the screw. Bass has shoulder strap and to me it looks good and is ready to be played

Ibanez Musician MC924, made in Japan in 1982.
The original pickups were replaced with vintage EMG active pickups. The top was nicely adapted with wood and a flame maple veneer, and painted transparent red.
The neck was sanded at some point, so now it has been nicely re-finished with nitrocellulose lacquer, looks glossy and feels smooth.

Ibanez dates back as far as 1908. as a musical instrument division of a Japanese bookstore, but they only started making electric instruments in the early 1960s.
