This listing is for a Vintage Gibson Archtop Guitar Pickguard. The pickguard was marked as coming off a 194 Gibson L4-C but this was in a large collection of parts so we cannot confirm that. The pickguard is modified and has been notched for a pickup. As best I can tell this pickguard would have originally come with a L4-C, L5-C or L7-C amount other models and appears be made in the sometime in 1940's 1950's or early 1960's. This 1970 Gibson Barney Kessel is one of only three confirmed examples I know of that has all solid wood construction, featuring a solid carved spruce top and a solid carved, flamed maple back. others being a 1965 BK Standard and a 1968 BK Custom. Vintage 1930s Kalamazoo KG-31 archtop acoustic guitar made by Gibson. This 1930s KG-31 has a bound neck and a bound pickguard and is 100% original. The old Kluson tuners work pretty well considering their age; the D an G string tuner knob shafts are bent. The Brazilian rosewood bridge is set as low as it will go. This Gibson L-5 Special appears to have shipped on February 7, 1937 to Volkwein's Music in Pittsburgh according to the Gibson ledgers. The store still exists to this day as a family owned business. The serial number also appears to be a repeat of one that is on another L-5 (not a special) that shipped in 1936 that has a different factory order number. 1946 Gibson L-50 archtop acoustic guitar, with no neck, body or top cracks. This vintage L-50 is in excellent, 100% original condition. The maple neck is straight and flat, with no buzzing or dead spots up or down the fretboard. The neck angle is fantastic, with plenty of room between the bridge saddle and the bridge foot to make adjustments. The truss rod works. This 1965 Gibson L-48 represents the entry level Gibson acoustic archtop. Despite this, these guitars can have a really nice sound, and this one certainly does. With a mahogany top, the sound is certainly different than the usual spruce top guitars. Its not quite as bold and punchy as spruce with less mid focus. It's a nice variation for someone looking for something a little different than the common spruce top archtop

Vintage 1930s Kalamazoo KG-31 archtop acoustic guitar made by Gibson. This1930s KG-31 is all original except for the pickguard and the pickguard hardware. The old Kluson tuners work pretty well considering their age. The Brazilian rosewood bridge is set as low as it will go, but despite the low bridge height, the string action at the 12th fret is fast enough that the guitar is very comfortable to play all the way up the neck

Fabulous guitar, freshly fitted with Gibson light gauge 80 / 20 Bronze wrapped strings
It took a bit of digging to find the serial numbered date (a complicated system of numbering evolution), the result is "made in Kalamazoo in 1950"
The action is really good, the manufacture is amazing for a 75 year old and after several hours of cleaning it is coming up with nice patinated glossy finish
