Up for sale is my ?78 Musicmaster bass. The short scale neck feels great in hand and is a joy to play. Comes shipped with LaBella flat wound strings for that fantastic old school vibe.
Condition is good overall with some minor flaws due to age. Plays and sounds great and is all original

Recently found this instrument in my local pawn shop. It was expensive, but I was not going to leave it behind
Comments:
1. The single coil, single pickup is not super loud 2. If you look carefully at photo's there is evidence of a green paint (Oxidized Sonic Blue?) under the black. (I did not remove pickguard to investigate) I have heard that at the Fender factory, when a custom color paint job failed QC, bodies were put back on the line and painted black 3. 1976-78 fender musicmaster bass guitar, it was my grandfathers he purchased new until he died in 1996. It was then stored away until I acquired it around 5 years ago. Everything works and will come with the case. Pretty sure it??s the original case it was purchased with. Also old. Will probably keep the strap as it has my grandfathers name on it. Rest will go with. Still sounds great. Will clean it up before I ship.... more

1970's Fender Musicmaster Bass Amp  - great for guitar too. Uses two 6AQ5 tubes for output and a 12AX7 preamp tube. There is no phase splitter tube, it uses an expensive transformer as an interstage phase splitter! Solid state rectifier. 12" Fender labeled speaker made by CTS (Chicago Telephone Supply) in the 34th week of 1974
The earliest Musicmaster had a bizarre semi-rectangular speaker that was both unreliable and unreplacable. Don't buy one of those unless you're a collector ... more

1971 Musicmaster Bass in Very Good Condition. The neck is straight and the action is low. Frets are in good shape with plenty of life left. Lovely vintage 1978 made in USA Fender Musicmaster short scale bass guitar. As you can see from the photos it is well loved but plays and sounds beautiful. Currently string with Labella flats and has an aftermarket 4 pole pickup that sounds very full and more P like than the weaker guitar pickup these would have came with.
From what I can tell this has never been refinished or repaired but does have an upgraded mustang style bridge - this is a common mod to help with tone and intonation on ... more

For sale my beloved 1978 Fender Musicmaster bass ( short scale) .
All original parts with the exception of a custom made Mojo pickup which has added a fuller richer low end and around great tone.
As the pics show the paintwork is crazy-paved with some small sections missing revealing the wood body- I bought it like this 20 years ago and it's not deteriorated at all since then. It looks great- vintage road worn look!!

I am selling my Original Fender Musicmaster Bass from 1978. As I am left handed I have flipped it professionally by flipping the nut, bridge, strings and strap lock. Can be quite easily flipped back to right handed by a guitar tech. It will be sold with the original strat pickup it came with but I swapped it out for the Mojo Pickups?? 4 Pole Musicmaster bass pickup which sounds levels above! Local pick up or can be posted! 1978 Fender Musicmaster Bass (Short Scale) 100% original, nothing changed or messed about with. As can be seen from the photos the paint work has seen better days and there's a couple of marks on the neck, couple of screws missing and the thumb block is long gone. I've owned it for around 35 years, it's been all around the world with me but seldom played in the last 10 years.
