Vintage guitars for sale: eko acoustic

For sale locally is a vintage Eko j54. The guitar was the precursor to the Eko ranger and made in Italy before 1967. Later models were called eko rangers. The j54s were made with better construction and solid tops. Guitar plays well and the electronics work. All original with adjustable bridge. I havent seen one in better used condition. This is a cool vintage instrument. We just put fresh strings on it. Sounds and plays so good! Straight neck. Fully functional. Made in Italy. It has electronics. The jack has something a little off in that if you jiggle the cord sometimes the sound will cut in and out. It could be the tip needs pressed in more. Simple fix. Sounds good as an acoustic. This guitar has some dings and scratches over the years giving it character, but nothing major. Someone will love this blast from the past!

I found this in a trash can. I have no idea i it is worth $50 or $500. It looks solid. It feels solid. Varnish has some lines from age. I do not see any cracked wood. I am not certain of what model acoustic guitar this neck is from, possibly a Ranger in the 1960's -70's era The body is in another listing. New frets were installed, but they have not been levelled. Here is rare treasure from the top secret level of our Eko cache!
This is a super rare E20 12E which was apparently only made for around one year or so circa 1980 to 1981
The design of Eko was changed in the late 70's meaning that the prior heavy build was lightened for enhanced tone, the trade off for this is that these later guitars often require a bridge reset, this one is no exception with the bridge just lightly lifting at the edges

Its a collectors piece due to it being the top factory model, and also dated 1984 as per the label .

No serious flaws or defects that affect playability. There is a small lacquer finish crack at the neck and this has not expanded during my ownership. You just don't get guitars like these any more as the trees used to make them are not allowed to be cut down
Only with guitars made of the correct woods and aged and seasoned can you get that wonderful tone

Very good condition despite age. It has a few bumps here and there, and a very visible crack in the top, as shown in the pictures (these cracks are extremely common in Eko acoustic guitars, as they are made of plywood). The truss rod cover is cracked as well. Apart from this everything else is fine, overall very good condition

I've owned this since it was new, in the very early 1980s. It's been extremely well used ?? it's been played on stage at festivals, folk clubs, country bars, a million rehearsals, and umpteen other places.
It's even been sampled by a bloke who helped do synths for the Pet Shop Boys, and I've been told it features on several of their early songs as part of the bassline (I can't confirm this, but there's a suspiciously similar noise on West End Girls)

Nice old Eko fitted with magnetic pickup condition is well used but very playable the surface laquer is cracked in various places but it??s structurally sound the action is low and the frets and fingerboard are in good condition the case is equally old and you can view try it out and collect in kenilworth Warwickshire or will post in thick cardboard for transit... more
