Early 1972 Gibson SG Special in Cherry Red. Made in USA. The cherry red has faded to a dark walnut color. However, there is still evidence of the cherry red underneath the pickguard, pickup mounting rings, and the back of the body and neck is slightly more red than the front. 1972 Gibson SG Special in Very Good Condition. The neck is straight and the action is low. Frets are in good shape with plenty of life left. Electronics function perfectly. Original pickups and wiring have been replaced with Gibson Selecr 490T pickups with some sort of phase switch. Guitar plays and sounds fantastic. A really cool player! Serial # 623512. Dates to 1972 / 3 based on spec, as you will know the serials are vague. The guitar is the SGIII, which was top of the range and rare, with only 1000 ever being produced as a test bed for newer models. Only a few were made in cherry sunburst too.
No neck cracks or breaks!
She is in amazing condition for the age, with just a few marks mainly on the neck rear and lacquer checking on rear of body contour.
