Early- to mid-1950s Kay K-22 jumbo flat top acoustic. Solid spruce top, with back and sides of laminated mahogany. Ladder braced. Bridge was totally mangled (brass bolts / nuts had started to pull up from excess tension) but replaced with an NOS Kay bridge from the same era. Slight and stable risen areas on the top behind the anchor bolts, but I contoured the new bridge over these for better fit. Very minor. I also enhanced the scarfed-up area of the top under the bridge for better glue hold. ... more

It's NOW TIME!! The sad day I have to let this go. The seriel number dates the guitar to 1953. It plays great, the neck is smooth and easy to navigate. The tuning pegs are excellent, but I would replace the pegs. I bought the guitar from a Blue grass Guitar shop in Asheville NC in 2011. It feels great to play it and it sounds like heaven. If this were a car it would be called a barn find. I purchased this piece 35 years ago but never got around to bringing it up to final quality. The parts are all here also the dust. The strings need to replaced. The tuners are ok. The electric when plugged in works. The volume control might need tweaking but you can control volume from the amplifier. This Guild X-350 was made in the original Guild factory in Manhattan, largely by craftsman who had come over from Epiphone following a strike at the factory there. Guild was founded near the end of 1952 and this guitar was made in 1953, the first year of this model. This was so early in production that it comes before some of the custom logo parts were in place which is why the original pickgard on this guitar consists of multi-ply black-white plastic rather than the solid black Guild logo ... more

This1953 brass belt buckle was made by Vogel of San Antonio, Texas. It'sthe same model used by the Gretsch Guitar Company on their earliestversion of the 6130 Round-Up guitar. This is a 1953 Hofner Senator archtop guitar
At some point in its life a previous owner added a cheap Chinese bridge pickup and some electronics. When I got the guitar I made the best of it by replacing the pickup with a Bare Knuckle Blue 90 P90 pickup. I also replaced the cheap nasty knobs with some vintage bakelite knobs from a pre-war radio, I replaced the tuners with Kluson Deluxe strip tuners, I and added a tune-o-matic floating bridge
