Hey tone seekers! Check out this mid 50's Magnatone Starlet amp that I hot rodded into a Fender narrow panel tweed champ! Originally the starlet is an ACDC amp with no power transformer. These typically sound kinda weak, SO I gutted the circuit and added a vintage new old stock stancor power transformer from the 50's, kept the original speaker and output transformer and built a narrow panel 5f1 champ circuit inside! The results is a super hot rodded maggy! TONS of hot gain and sounds fantastic ... more

This is an early-to-mid 1960??s Magnatone Zephyr, model X-5, electric guitar made by Magnatone of California. It features a solid, double cutaway, poplar body, and a black finish with gold sparkles. It has two single coil pickups, a white plastic pickguard on which all of the electronics are mounted, two metal strap pins, an adjustable, unique and well designed bridge and whammy tailpiece mechanism which holds pitch and intonation well, a zero fret and a metal cover over the nut. Please take the time to read about this guitar amplifier and message me with any further questions: this is old and showing signs of cosmetic wear, commensurate with age. The case has a few cracks seen, and the green cabinet wrap has chipped in some places. The power cord is solid, but the sheathing on the braided wires leading to / closest to the speaker have become frail over the years and are now wrapped in electrical tape. 1965 Magnatone X-5 Zephyr! Made in the USA. Very cool White Sparkle finish on double-cut Poplar body. Maple neck, topped with a 20-fret Rosewood board with dot inlays. Tone supplied by a pair of singlecoils with volume, tone, and individual on / off slider switches. Chrome hardware, including 'lever-lock' trem. All original with no mods, breaks, or repairs.
