This is a 1968 Hofner 500 / 1 bass that has a mix of features from a 500 / 1 and a 5000 / 1 Deluxe. It was most likely a custom order. The color and style of wood, the tortoise shell pickguard, and tortoise shell control plate are consistent with a 5000 / 1 Deluxe. The rest of the bass has typical features of a 500 / 1. The original hard shell case is included and is in rough condition. The trussrod cover and input jack have been replaced with parts from a 1967 Hofner 500 / 1 violin bass

Although these can be difficult to determine the exact production year due to lack of serial numbers but, based on the head stock logo, bar blade pickups, large escutcheon, wide control panel, etc it definitely points it to the 1970.
