I bought this new in 1964 and used it regularly gigging clubs and dance halls mainly across south Wales and the midlands of England in the mid 1960s. Up for sale is my beloved 1959 Hofner Senator. It's a gorgeous archtop guitar with wonderful tone and resonance. In the 50s, Hofner, Gretsch and Gibson reigned supreme in the Archtop / Jazz guitar space
The Senator is the slightly larger-bodied version of the parlour Jazz guitar, the Congress
The guitar is in fantastic condition for one of this age, and plays like a dream. The only damage is to the name badge, which is partly missing (see pictures)

It's a well-loved guitar but needs some attention, hence the low price, compared to others on here It's been modified for a lefty but wouldn't take much (new nut) to change it back The neck has been reset and re fretted (by a professional luthier) and it plays ok (great sound!) but could do with setting up and new strings There's plenty of signs of wear, scratches, dings and cracked varnish... more

Nice example of an old guitar , some slight wear to top, missing a few tiny screws on string compensator and truss rod cover .
Only one strap toggle .
Neck has slight relief , low action .
Not turned truss rod as I don??t have the correct tool .
New adagio strings , copper wound 10-47 .

Vintage floating bridge. The saddle part is from a late 1950s Hofner Senator President or Congress (maybe others). It is dark ebonized maple and marked 02 on the underside. The base is made of rosewood, so a lighter redder brown. The two parts don't exactly match, but they fit and work well
