Very cool and extremely rare model from Hofner. Rare acoustic archtop with sharp cutaway. It plays easy and sounds very good! It's in excellent condition. Not mint, but very clean overall. Just the lightest traces of use but is a great example and is complete with hard case etc

Hofner President Florentine 66 guitar made in roughly 1966. The guitar shows normal signs of its age and is in great playing condition
It was worked on by a professional luthier about a year ago. It had a custom made bone nut made and fitted, the frets were finished and polished, the finish of the whole guitar was polished, the electrics were re-soldered and the guitar was setup with gauge 10 strings. To the best of my knowledge, this is the earliest Hofner President serial number I have found. It's from the first year of President guitars - 1953 - and has the original hard case (painted) included too. A true rarity, especially with that Straten tailpiece! 1965 Hofner President in superb condition. Looks gorgeous, amazing build, plays amazingly well and is all original.
I had it up for sale at ATB guitars but it didn't sell so I took it back after a while, the description from their website is below.

Really great, Hofner President vintage guitar (made in 1959), sounds really great, looks great and has a pickup fitted inside (also sounds great)
I don't know the make of the pickup, it is stuck to the inside top of the guitar (like a K&K style), it is a very effective passive pickup and give great volume and reproduction of sound)... more

Vintage floating bridge. The saddle part is from a late 1950s Hofner Senator President or Congress (maybe others). It is dark ebonized maple and marked 02 on the underside. The base is made of rosewood, so a lighter redder brown. The two parts don't exactly match, but they fit and work well

Genuine very rare stamped 1960's Hofner guitar tail piece
In very nice original condition. There are a few age marks etc but they no doubt add to the charm. I have added front and back photos so please look carefully as they make up the main description. I haven't tried to clean it and sure it would come up very nicely but it isn't the done thing today so have left as is for the buyer to choose how to clean. Hofner 'The Burgundy President' thinline c1964. CasedBelieved to be a totally unique guitar. Made by Hofner in c1964 as a sample (alongside a sample 'Committee') for the well known German jazz guitarist Werner Polhert.
