For 60 years of age it is in remarkable condition. There are some scratches, in fact quite a few all around the body. Cosmetic and with the nicely darkened laquer they give the instrnent this wonderfull patina. Around the side srew of the pick guard is a little touched up area and on the backside bottom edge where the ornamentel inlay ends is a tiny patch of dopped out laquer. Realy nice Hofner 1959 guitar made in Germany. Sounds and plays great. The guitar is all original except the wood bridge. I Have the original bridge which will be in the case. I just prefer the one that's on there. Its a rare guitar . The body and neck are in great condition. The pickup sounds great . The pot that is in there is a little scratchey. This is my trusty Höfner Senator Acoustic Archtop Guitar - I??ve been a proud owner for several years now. I bought it from an independent vintage guitar shop in Gullane, East Lothian.
From the location of the decal, and the headstock inlay, I can confirm it is from 1956-1957 - the same year that Sputnik I was sent into orbit!

It plays fine but when you go higher up the fret board it starts to sound a little squeaky and not right. It's had previous work on it as before the strings were too far away and you weren't able to play it. Other than that the guitar still plays and is still in working condition... more

There are some marks and bumps here and there which I've tried to photograph. The points worth pointing out are: small piece of missing wood near the arch top corner and also an old impact crack on one area (photo number 13)
