Surprisingly clean example of a '60s (or '70s?) Japanese viola bass. The action gets high as you go up the fretboard despite the saddles being bottomed out. Neck looks straight. I gave the truss a little turn in each direction but was wary of going too far. Not sure whether it needs a neck reset, shim, or to just have the bridge filed down. Frets are excellent. This is a nice Hofner copy of the Beatle Bass Paul used. We believe it to be a Univox or Teisco 1960's. Electronics all work however the tone just has a little static noise when you turn it volume works great and so does the tone other than that drop of static while turning (probably a very good electronics cleaning is in order). Vintage Hofner western 12-string guitar. It was part of a collection owned by guitar legend Bert Weedon. A custom pickup has been added at the top of the fretboard and there are tone and volume controls and a jack socket. Great action for a 12-string and fabulous volume. A joy to play. The label inside dates it to around 1966. In decent cosmetic condition as per photos. The scratch plate is detaching in places and needs a bit of glue. One for the collector. Amazing rare vintage Hofner 495 from 1959
I've had this guitar for ~ 8yrs, I played it regularly in the first year, and hardly at all since, it hasn't been played for at least 3 yrs. It's been sat in a hardcase without strings since (CASE NOT INCLUDED)
There are a few issues that should be noted, please see photos :
- There are a few white paint flecks in various spots, like this when I bought it

4 / 4 Hofner 378 Flamenco serial 3633 Acoustic Guitar 1955 / 6 model This was the first model of this series made in late 1955 early 1956 and can be identified by the Hofner mark on the front is stamped in rather than been a waterslide sticker. (My Uncle bought this new in 1956 he said) He also said they used far better woods in the early models up until 1959

After some research i finally nailed it down, it is the senator as it says on the label. The S for selma company the E1 for electrics the model is 5124 / 05 the number 544 is the production number off the line. The pick up was redone by HOFNER to keep originality of the part there was a long wait 6mths and a cost of £120 00, the headstock features the original mother of pearl not the plastic which is on some that where produced in that era .On the back of the headstock is factory written in ... more

A genuine 1960s acoustic guitar in excellent condition for its age, and still very playable with a nice action and good frets
Many guitarists started their journey with these guitars including the great Hank Marvin. They were decent quality and a lot cheaper than a Gibson, Fender etc. This is a real survivor, plenty of patina but no cracks or major marks

Rare 1950ties Höfner 486 Parlor Guitar in very good condition. There are some minor spots and wear from playing over the years. Straight neck with levelled frets and minor fretwear. Frets are at aprox 60-70 %. Tuners are slightly bended but still working properly. It could be played with both classic or steel strings
