This is a nice Hofner copy of the Beatle Bass Paul used. We believe it to be a Univox or Teisco 1960's. Electronics all work however the tone just has a little static noise when you turn it volume works great and so does the tone other than that drop of static while turning (probably a very good electronics cleaning is in order). This is a 1968 Hofner 500 / 1 bass that has a mix of features from a 500 / 1 and a 5000 / 1 Deluxe. Per the appraisal from Gruhn Guitars (see last pic), they estimate this to be from a limited run of maybe 10 basses. The color and style of wood as well as the pickguard are consistent with a 5000 / 1 Deluxe but the rest is consistent with a 500 / 1 including the white binding. A 5000 / 1 Deluxe has tortoiseshell binding. The original hard shell case is included

These Hofner 173 models are funky. The body is finished in crocodile textured vinyl. The three 510 pickups look like humbuckers but are single coils. The controls include 3 sliders labeled "Treble " , "Discant " , and "Bass " . There are 4 rotary knobs, one for master volume and three for individual pickup tone

Surprisingly clean example of a '60s (or '70s?) Japanese viola bass. The action gets high as you go up the fretboard despite the saddles being bottomed out. Neck looks straight. I gave the truss a little turn in each direction but was wary of going too far. Not sure whether it needs a neck reset, shim, or to just have the bridge filed down. Frets are excellent. Awesome, ultra lively and resonant classic fully hollow German made Hofner. This guitar is in amazing condition for its age with only the usual light scratches and signs of wear. For 60 years of age it is in remarkable condition. There are some scratches, in fact quite a few all around the body. Cosmetic and with the nicely darkened laquer they give the instrnent this wonderfull patina. This rare Hofner guitar was made in Germany in the 1960s. There is no marking on the guitar, but I assume it is a model No. 161. Guitar is very light in weight ( 2 22kg or 4 15lb ) and body is hollow inside

Hofner President Florentine 66 guitar made in roughly 1966. The guitar shows normal signs of its age and is in great playing condition
It was worked on by a professional luthier about a year ago. Rare vintage Höfner Colorama solid body guitar with one original 1960s Humbucker in the neck position. The guitar was refinished pink at some point before I had it. It??s been on a non-smoking studio wall for the last four years, with regular maintenance and care. The neck is one of the best and playing I?ve ever tried. The string / Trem cover has been rechromed as it had been scratched with a band name but it was really bad so I had it redone
All electrics are original in fact the only non original parts are the strap buttons, scratchplate screws and the nut that holds the trem arm on every thing else is standard
