So, gather up your skiffle band and ferry ?cross the Mersey! Interesting little Beatles pre-Hamburg era Egmond parlor guitar. Yes, yes, the one seen in photos of George is actually a couple years older and lacks the adhesive attached ??pickguard??. However, these little buggers definitely have that British Invasion thing going on. Of course, they have to play decently?? This is a super interesting guitar. It's branded Penncrest, which was JC Penney's house brand, but unlike many of the era which were made by Kay, this is indisputably an Egmond guitar as indicated by the Made In Holland stamp and Egmond's unique screw / spring neck attachment system
I'm a huge fan of this neat neck attachment, which makes adjusting the action and maintaining excellent neck angle as simple as turning a screw. Others have removed the spring and use shims, which works great too... more

Egmond Typhoon bass guitar with gig bag. Egmond bass guitars are fantastic for recording. The pickups sound microphonic and punchy. They are a great alternative to the Fender Precision or other modern bass guitars, which don??t always punch through in the mix and give that vintage 1960s feel. The bass guitar weighs 7 9 pounds, which is very light for a bass that is the size. This one has the later "stick of butter" high output Egmond pickups. The guitar has fine intonation. Sold to me as a Bass 9. It did not have Bass 9 on the headstock, which it would have had if it was a Selmer import to the UK. This and the fact that it was actually bought from Germany make me think is in in effect a Typhoon 2EBS1

A rare Egmond Frères parlor guitar from the 1950s. Good overall for its age but offered as spares or repair
The neck is adjustable but will need to be set to the correct angle. It requires some tuner ferrule sleeves, a few tuner buttons, a new nut, and new strings. There is also a small chip on one of the string slots (see photos)
