Here we have a fully original 'very' early 1967 Ampeg scroll head AUB-1 fretless bass. The bass is 100% original and has a factory rare 'black' finish on top of the original 2 tone black-red finish as seen in pictures. Serial# 865. The CTS pots read 1376701 or the first week of 1967 making this a 'very' early 1967.

The Ampeg AUB-1 in the photos is what you would be purchasing. There is a lot of paint wear which is common on these because of how they are finished. The bridge was replaced at some point in the past by the original owner. The neck also has some extra paint over the dots that was put there to make it easier to see. The luthier believed that could be removed pretty easily but we told him to keep repairs / changes to a minimum. If the new owner wants to do that I figured that would be their ... more
