This Guild X-350 was made in the original Guild factory in Manhattan, largely by craftsman who had come over from Epiphone following a strike at the factory there. Guild was founded near the end of 1952 and this guitar was made in 1953, the first year of this model. This is an interesting guitar. Two-piece maple tops were rare on Standards of this era. So was any sort of flame. So were nickel parts. I think that this guitar may have started out as some sort of pre-historic or Heritage but was sold as a regular Les Paul Standard for whatever reason. That's just a theory.
