Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Mustang in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, boasting a slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard and original hardshell case. While a slab Brazilian rosewood board was something typically reserved for Pre-CBS Fender instruments (in contrast with the thinner veneer boards which were the norm at the time), it was also implemented only on the Mustang and Jaguar models in the mid-1960s for a couple short production runs like the example seen here ... more

For sale is a 1965 Fender Mustang, Dakota red, A-neck
All original. Tremolo bar & bridge cover included. Original case included.

The only work I??ve had done to the guitar is replacing the haphazard shim with a proper maple shim purchased from StewMac. Recently set up, and ready to ready to rock!

Got this one last year for a project that I've wanted to do for ages , it was all complete with the original pickups and pickguard plus bridge , the neck was in a sorry state and someone had brushed clear laquer all over it and the frets were worn out but at least it was stunningly straight. Stripped the neck and resurfaced the top added new frets and added a light coating of poly varnish , levelled the frets , crowned and polished. This is a rare 1960??s fender guitar case supplied with or for the 3 / 4 sized fender models from the early 60??s: mustang, duo sonic, etc case is very solid no iffy pong, the catches work although one spring is not working.
