This vintage Kay bass is an amazing find that has been set up beautifully. This M1-B features an underwood pickup, and has a rich, lovely tone. The sides of the body show the most prominent signs of its age, with some chipping, stripping, and residue on the lower right side. The back of this bass' neck shows some discoloration from wear. Interesting unlabeled 16?? blonde archtop, very likely made by Kay c. 1950 for one of their subsidiary brands (Tempo, Kamico, Playtime, etc ). Fantastic condition. Solid spruce top and maple body. Exceptionally clean early / mid-50s Kay all mahogany archtop (laminates). All original parts except for bridge base. Strong glossy finish throughout. Very small gap at heel (barely fits a business card), but joint is rock solid and angle is just fine. More like a little creep over the decades, or some difference in shrinkage and expansion between the different pieces of wood. This is a 1950s Kay K1 jumbo archtop cutaway guitar. Its jumbo body measures 17 25" wide at the lower bout. It has a solid spruce top and bottom, and ply sides. The maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays, featuring double dot inlays at the 5th, 9th and 15th frets.
The four-part binding is along the top and bottom edges of the body. The neck also has binding around its edge of the fingerboard. There is minor lifting of the binding in one small area as seen in the pictures. The ... more

Here you have a pair of Gretsch Arrow knobs fro a late ?50s / early ?60s Gretsch Country Club (this style of knob was used on other models as well). These were gold, but most of the gold plating is worn off. You can see that these are in very used condition in the pictures

I bought this as a restoration project but it needs some care that I can't provide. As far as I know, this guitar is from the 1950's and is an early model Zenith. Nothing I've looked up can provide me with further details since the serial number is difficult to find and is likely not in any registry I've come across. Electra MPC 950 1980s - Grey / Silver Burst. Electra mpc 950. Fully functional. Replaced grover tuners and replaced switches. Some light scratching. Non original but tight fitting case. Kansas parlour style guitar built under license from Kay in Romania some time between 1958 and 1964 (I believe). The condition is incredibly good considering the age. There are small marks around the edges of the sides and front / back join - where the binding would be - but otherwise it looks fantastic. There is no wear to any of the frets and the do not look to have been replaced - there is some overspray still visible on the zero fret.

Very nice vintage 1950's Gallotone champion the same model as John Lennon's first guitar. Not that many of these around now in this nice original condition and highly sort after by fans and Beatles collectors. This beautiful instrument was manufactured by the Migma Meister collective of Markneukirchen, instrument makers in Germany. Some research on the internet found a reference to Walter Wunderlich, however this instrument is signed by Hugo Wunderlich, a brother or son, perhaps. The headstock is marked "Foreign" thus dating this instrument as being made for export in the early post war period. Foreign being a mark often applied to goods from Germany in the period after both WW1 and WW2
