1936 Gibson L-5
A beautiful example from the peak period of acoustic archtop production out of Kalamazoo. This is an early "Advanced" version of the L-5, which had just increased in size from a 16" lower bout to a 17" lower bout in the year before this guitar was built. At this time the bracing pattern was changed to an X braced instrument, as opposed to the previous parallel bracing pattern. This change was somewhat short lived, as they reverted to parallel bracing just a few years later. ... more

These are great little blues guitars. This 1936 supertone was manufactured in Chicago by Harmony with solid birch top, back and sides   It measures 36 inches long with a 24 inch scale.
