Production date on this instrument would be in 1978, import date was likely late 1979 or maybe even early 1980 but this is one of the earliest examples of the less seen SG-1500. I??ve had this guitar for well over 2 decades and it came to me only partially complete. I'm sadly selling my Yamaha SG2000 purely for stylistic reasons. The sound of this instrument is comparable, if not better to the one of a Vintage Gibson from the 1980's in fact Santana used this model before moving to PRS and this can be seen on many videos online
The only reason why I'm selling it is because I started playing music styles that do not include distorted or crunchy sounds and require a mellower tone, hence why I would be willing to exchange this instrument with a Gibson 335 ... more

Well used 1968 Yamaha SG5A that plays well and fully works. Everything is fully working and features a blend knob to go from single coil to humbucker sounds in the bridge position. Has a lovely Brazillian Rosewood Fingerboard with original frets! The Yamaha SG and particularly the models SG-1000 / 2000, became in the day known as Les Paul Killers and developed with input from none other than Carlos Santana. This is a real players guitar with the signs to show it, not one for perfectionists but a really cool guitar with loads of character.

I believe this was originally black, however the finish has faded over time giving it a patchy effect that is darker in places but not obvious until up close. At some point the body has been routed out to fit a floyd rose style floating tremolo, no idea who did this but it is a clean job and functions perfectly. The bridge that came on this is ... more
