This tenor banjo has been professionally restored.
When I originally acquired it the neck and split laterally across the heel because, so I learned later, the neck was not original to the instrument. With some luthier magic, the split was repaired, and the neck altered slightly at the joint to fit the pot properly. Add in a replacement tailpiece (no cover despite the pics) and it is ready to go. Plays nice and sounds like you'd expect

I know nothing about banjos. This is actually the first banjo I have ever handled. It's not easy to find information on these early Kent instruments. I believe this to have been made in the 60's in Japan. It has four strings and 20 frets with a beautiful wooden resonator, which I think is walnut. It has a 10-1 / 2 inch full thickness maple rim and 18-fret maple neck. Most of the hardware appears to be original as do the friction tuners. The tailpiece is a modern replacement. Has a hide head that's stained on one side
All in all, this is a pretty clean example of one of Gibson's simplest pre-war designs.... more

Vintage richelieu tenor banjo pick holder. Nickel finish is in great condition. This is easy to mount onto a banjo. Just loosen the thumb screw, place on the banjo bracket, tighten thumb screw. Overall this looks like new. It came on an old plectrum banjo that I had converted to five string, and would be essential to any tenor or plectrum banjo player.... more
