The good the bad and the ugly
It's a well-loved guitar but needs some attention, hence the low price, compared to others on here It's been modified for a lefty but wouldn't take much (new nut) to change it back The neck has been reset and re fretted (by a professional luthier) and it plays ok (great sound!) but could do with setting up and new strings There's plenty of signs of wear, scratches, dings and cracked varnish... more

Höfner 500 / 3 bass guitar from 1960. This is a single-pickup version of the 500 / 5 (which was played by Stuart Sutcliffe in the early days of the Beatles) with a slightly narrower body. From 1963, the 500 / 3 was named the Senator and the two-pickup 500 / 5 was named the President

Hofner Senator - 1960 natural maple finish
A seriously gorgeous piece of musical history, just awesome At some point there's bound to be a need for repair on an old (vintage) guitar I had a professional reset the neck and set up the action, so it now plays beautifully

1959 Hofner Senator Project. Original Blonde finish.
Selling as spares or repairs only so NO returns on this one.
Body, neck and nut included but no other parts.
Requires rebuilding around the neck heel joint and a neck reset. A pst owner has had a go at resetting ther neck and rebuilding the heel but the angle is incorrect leading to an extremely high action
Possibly the neck also requires attention as it has some bow although this doesn't seem too bad to us

Hofner Senator natural made in Germany and dating from 1960, the year that Hofner brought out the first truss rods in their guitars and also this Senator has a ''toaster'' pickup and these were used only during 1960 and 1961
The fretboard contains 22 frets with triple dot markers but these only go as far as fret 12. The single pickup is controlled by the rectangular control panel which has a volume control with treble on / off, bass on / off and rhythm / solo switches. ... more
