This is a rare guitar. They only made these Epiphone USA models for a short period of time. This one is super cool. Includes the original case. This one is perfect to add to your collection.

1978 Gibson SG Special in Rare Factory Black Finish. Nearly identical to an SG Standard, the SG Special in the Late 1970s featured an unbound Dot Neck and a Larger Neck Profile.
The guitar is powered by two factory Tar Back Humbucking Pickups. Untouched Electronics in the cavity with 1978 pot dates. Inlayed Gibson Headstock Logo and impressed Serial Number. 1 and 11 / 16" Nut width with a Large Rounded Neck Profile with depth taper. 1st fret depth is .80 and 12th fret is 1 " .

Original case in fair condition and included. Some belt buckle rash. a few pocks on the neck. very underplayed. It sat under my friend's bed since 1985. Looks like some mold got under the lacquer. This I do not know about. I am not the owner. This is owned by a dear friend who wants some help selling it. He was the third owner when he bought it in 1980. Hard to believe, but I am basically the second owner of this amazing guitar. It had been in the original family since new
Pretty much everything about this guitar is original, including the funky strap, and the case. The only piece that is not, is the trust rod cover, because it had an ugly white perloid cover when I bought it, and I replaced it with a 2-ply black one. This is a very good example of a 1972 Gibson Special originally in a very nice cherry finish but still some remnant??s of its former self!
Gibson SG Special was nearly identical to the SG Standards of the time, replacing the full-sized humbucking pickups of the Standard model for the newer mini-humbuckers that Gibson acquired in their purchase of the Epiphone factory

Up for sale reluctantly is my 1972 Gibson SG Special, this is in absolutely incredible condition, completely original with no repairs and it's one of the early models where it's a one piece neck. Comes with the original knobs too, I just prefer the 1960s ones. Lovely vintage wine red colour, no checking. Incredibly rare to find one with almost no dings or buckle rash and most examples have neck breaks, this doesn't have any and has had an easy looked after life The price reflects other auctions ... more
